Sir,

i dont know were to lok f our Learning challenge homework about train arrivals in 1750

Mr D Shiel said...

The railway did not arrive until much later than the 1750s so maybe you are searching the wrong time period? Try this website as it does have some information on this topic.

Sir,
I have found out that there was a butchers in morley called J.B's butchers owned by Mr Joseph Brown. It was in morley bottoms in 1787 - 1814 when Joseph apparently died and passed it on to his son Peter I think, my grandad's dad's dad knew him. So my grandad's grandad. He lived in morley in about 1804 I think.

Sir,
We are doing a prodject on 1 aspect of Morley. Me and my friend are doing old clothing (fashion) do you know any websites which I can see any old clothes 1700-1900? Thanks x

Also we went to the National Mining Museum and it was absolutley fantastic there was a massive jolt in this lift thing that scared everybody half to death! I learn't about the names of machinery they used and what people did like go inside tiny holes ( pregnant ) with no candle! I mean that is a shocker!!

Thanks sir

Me and my form 7alb went to the national coal minning musiam with Mr Bardsley and we found out that children young as the age as 5 would work down in the pits in the pitch black opening and closeing a trap door whilest there parents are digging for coal.Horses were down in the pits aswell the horses job was to pull coal. When we went down into the pits we had to wear a helmet and a battery with a light on.Down in the mine when we went down we saw lots of big machins and the air was very dirty.

recently we went on a school trip with the learning challenge to the national coal mining museum.
it was really fun and educational at the same time.I learnt that you would work at the coal mine from the early age of 5.you would work in the pitch black if you were a child (opening and closing the door for your parents)and your parents would have a candle but it would be very dim

Sir,
With the learning challenge we have recently been on a trip to the coal mining museum. We had loads of fun as we webt down the mine. I learnt that children as young as five would sit in the pitch black and just open and close a door for many hours, you would only have a candle for the first day and then nothing. Also a young cbild died in an explosion. Ryan Wilkinson 7ALB

we went to a coal mine musiam am couple of weeks ago they had this lift and it whent down in 2 mins 100 feat i think and back then they went down in 2 seconds wich must of been freeky and it is pich black you can get a bit of light if you by a candle so you will not get much light plus there was a inspector and the person who gave them it ternd blind and if he did not get that job he would have no gob.

In the Learning Challenge we went to the National Coal Mining Museum and it was really fun at first I thought that it would be boring but it wasn't at all. We were split into groups and my group went around the museum first then we went down a coal mine it was fantastic we were aloud to put coal all over our face. We should do things like that more often.

this is my comment about why romans were so important they were so important becuase they gave us glass i think this becuase without glas homes couldnt be safe to living in. the other reason is drinking glass without drinking cups it wouldnt be safe and clean to drink out of so people would get infected with horrible deseases. by alex metcalfe 7LEW

what the romans have done for us? the romans have given us glass this is really important becuase without glass homes wouldnt be safe becuase it would be vunerable to burgulars to easely get in. the glass is also important becuase it meant drinking water could be safe and clean. by Alex Metcalfe 7LEW

To Mrs Carr

The Romans have given us ideas for water supplies, such as the aquaduct which has had a large impact on the water we drink today.

The Romans have also given us education not to forget the peace and order they have restored to our home towns. And we couldn't forget the best of all - the wine!
