History is littered with important individuals that we spend time studying in class, but how important can one individual be? We have looked at Robert Owen, Richard Arkwright, Mathew Boulton and James Watt and what their impact was on the Industrial Revolution. The big question we need to be asking now is which one was most significant in making this period of British history so important or even if the work of these individuals is relevant to the study of this period. Would the Industrial Revolution had have been the same without the work of these men. Leave your views below and explain your answers. Do you agree with what others have posted?

We might find the attitudes of Robert Owen, Titus Salt and teh Cadbury family (who built Bournville in Birmingham) towards their workers strange today. People argue that companies have little responsiblity to their workers and they way they live. Do they?
Maybe we could beneift from companies seeing themselves as part of a wider society and making sure that their workers are happier, healthier and more educated. They may benefit themselves. Then again it might not work. Will people just move on to new jobs as they become more skilled? Are we loyal to communities or companies anymore?
The work of these individuals such as Owen and Arkwright, is definatley important. It is also worth being looked upon so we can learn how things in the country have progressed over many years. Robert Owen was probably one of the most significant, as his change to factory conditions have expanded in our time now. People learnt from him on how to care and educate his workers and treat them with respect and the fact that he took a stand. Many owners at the time didn't. His significance in British History may be the reason that in today's industries everyone is treated with equal care and respect.
We need to understand the importance of Arkwright and Owen as to show us how the Industrial Revolution has changed and progressed over the years. This will help us maybe in the near future as to understand the structure of companies that were mastered by these two business men. Both these 2 people had totally different points of view as how to run their factories and their workers. Robert Owen was probably the most responsible factory owner for his skills and the way he looked after his workers. This gives a great impact on his significance in history.
I think it is very important to study individuals because we can understand different peoples views on the Industrial Revolution. Such as Robert Owen was a very fair factory owner where as Arkwright was cruel to his factory workers. This information is important because we can see two factories from different views.
We need to understand the importance of Arkwright and Owen as to show us how the Industrial Revolution has changed and progressed over the years.Without them we wouldnt have faster ways of doing stuff
The Industrial Revolution is a key event in global history;many things changed, huge factories or mills shot up. Working conditions were very poor and many people died at young ages. These poluting mills were torture. You would legaly work from the age of 10. luckily philantropists like Titus Salt cared for the people who worked and tried to prevent situations like these.

I found out that When Titus salt was here was That Mr Albinghum was Unkind to his workers
Richard Arkwright was the more significant person and had the biggest impact on the indutrial revolution. These people are relevant to the study of this period because it happened and if they didnt why are people talking about them now ? The industrial revolution would not be the same without these men because they are all important people.I agree with people who have left comments.
